How do I apply for a position with CTI?

Begin by fully completing the CTI application form online and uploading your CV/Resume into the system. After your submission for the job you’ve selected; a CTI representative will contact you.

What Cruise line companies are part of the approved CTI network?

The approved cruise line operators in the CTI network are as follows: Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line, Oceania Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Marella Cruises, Viking Cruises, and Virgin Voyages.

What are the benefits of registering online?

Registering online is both fast and secure. Once your credentials are safely collected into our systems requirements; a short profile will be automatically generated for us to contact you directly.

What is the minimum or maximum age requirement to apply for a cruise line job?

The minimum legal age requirement to work onboard a cruise ship is 18. However, most major cruise lines require a minimum age of 21 and the maximum age for most entry level positions is 35.

How long does it take to get my application processed after submission to the job I’ve selected?

Once you’ve completed the online application, a local CTI representative should reach out and contact you directly about your application and provide a pre-screening evaluation date.

What documents do I need to bring to the prescreening interview?

Candidates are required to bring their most current CV/Resume to their pre-screening interview, including any past employer appraisal letters for further evaluation.

What specific documents are required for new employees to join a ship?

You will need to provide a valid passport, a safety training certificate, a Seaman’s book, a full medical report and a visa from the Embassy of the country you will board the ship.

What is the process of obtaining all the necessary documents ?

Once you have successfully completed the final interview phase for employment, your local CTI representative will guide you step by step on how to obtain every document necessary before ship deployment.

How long does it take to join the ship once I get approved from the cruise line?

Depending on the cruise line you’ve been hired to work for, and the processing of your documents this can take anywhere from one month up to 6 months for departure.

Is there anything I should prepare or complete before the final interview?

It is advisable to do a basic medical checkup to make sure you are in good health. In addition, you should obtain your domestic police clearance report and apply for a Passport if you don’t have one already.

What language skill is needed to work onboard.

The official work language on most vessels is English. Some cruise lines require an English assessment to ensure English proficiency levels are met.

Are tattoos and piercings allowed?

In most instances visible tattoos are not allowed. Visible tattoos such as on the hand, fingers, wrists, arms, neck and legs are not allowed. Tattoos invisible to the eyes such as chest and back are ok. Piercings are generally not allowed.

What are the benefits of working on a ship?

Crew members enjoy free room and board, including tax-free earnings during their contract. Other benefits include the opportunity to travel the world, experience different cultures and create long lasting relationships with co-workers and guests onboard.

What if I am being offered a lower position then I applied for?

Many candidates typically start at a lower entry-level position based on their past work experience. However, quick promotion can be obtained based on your performance throughout all departments onboard a cruise line.

Is working onboard a ship difficult?

The first few months are difficult, but some adjustments and the right attitude will pay off quickly. The hours can be long, and you will work 7 days a week. The contract length is generally 8 months followed by a 2-3 months’ vacation time.

Are their medical benefits when working on ships?

Yes, all of your medical benefits are in effect while working onboard your ship.

Am I responsible for the cost of documents and joining the ship?

All crew is responsible for your Passport, Seaman’s book, Safety training, medical and airline joining ticket. Some costs such as visas will be reimbursed onboard. Other exceptions may be that some cruise lines will pay for your airline ticket and other costs such as medical and safety training.
